Clarify? Removing Lightning payments or content? I’m in the dark on this one.

Odd

Found your SN post thank you👍

Their just removing the custodial lightning, in the wallet settings you can attach your lightning wallet and the site will work just as it did before. Without setting up an external lightning wallet you'll be using "Cowboy Credits".

I like this direction; removes liability from Stacker News 💜

Thank you

They are implementing "cowboy credits" to pay for posting and SN items, unless you send and receive peer to peer via your own connected wallet, I'm not versed on it all but I'll leave this here

Thank you for sharing

I can't still figure out what this all thing means

Think of cowboy credits as a gift card for stacker news only

I assume they're doing this to avoid any custodial liabilities in the future.

Thanks,

cowboy credits, huh,

I don't like this 🧐

I don't either, but its a great way to remove SN from being called a "bank" or "exchange" or "custodial wallet holding users' funds"

Legal protection tbh

I see, and that is not a good projected future

if websites have to be afraid to be considered 'bank'

Apparently not removing lightning, but if someone sends you sats, they're "reward sats" that you can spend on SN, and can't forward to someone else, unless you attach an external wallet
