Today in 1914, five miles off the coast of Vancouver Island, $1.15 million was handed over to the Seattle Construction and Drydock Company by the B.C. government to buy 2 submarines.

It was under wraps due to neutrality laws & the fact Chile had already partly paid for the subs.
