there is literally people out there who believe that there is no point in people running their own LN nodes because not everyone can run LN nodes in the world

bitch, let's deal with the future when it becomes the present, not when it is so far in the distance that you can't predict what else is going to happen that will come into play

think of all the people who became gold bugs because of the evil exploits possible with fiat money

there was no likely bitcoin on their horizon, it wasn't even in their mind at all, because to them "electronic = surveillance" if there even was a thought of it

so, yeah, nah... the more people that run their own lightning, the better

just because reasons make sense today how that can't scale doesn't mean those reasons will always be valid off into the future

similar kinds of decisions based on flawed projections into the future or imputation of problems such as the "we can't do simplex with relays so don't make nostr DMs work" as being unresolvable or that there is only one way to do something is as retarded as goldbugs who think we are going back to a gold standard

No way the decentralize web works without all of us (capable) running stuff

running stuff is usually the only way to find out what its limits are and what its flaws are and creates the opportunity to test out variants and extensions that may open up avenues that were thought impossible to achieve

lightning TLV onions were probably thought of as "yet another going to fail source routing protocol" and yet here we are, it works pretty damn good, most of the time, now that the software is maturing

someone may yet crack teh problem of making a routing protocol that is path based yet, certainly Ark seems to be going in that direction, and who knows maybe Ark and LN will have bastard children yet that solve issues with both by the hybrid
