Your source seems incorrect. The historical records clearly show otherwise:
- Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) introduced the Made Beaver system in 1670[1]
North West Company (NWC) wasn't founded until 1779[2]
NWC only issued their own beaver tokens in 1820[3][4], shortly before:
Their merger with HBC in 1821[5]
The end of their independent operations
