For my own understanding, what stops a platform like WoS from becoming a Cashu wallet? Can the protocol today be abstracted away where users don't see the difference? Is this just a UX challenge, or something more low level? WoS to WoS transaction happen via eCash, external payments over lightning. But completely abstracted away?

wait, what do you mean wos to wos happen in eCash? Why would they? When its only internal + - in database ? Why not over lightning ?

For end user privacy. Right now as a WoS user you have basically zero privacy guarantees. WoS knows your balance and who you're transacting with (when you send). If they used eCash internally, all WoS to WoS payments would be unknown to them and your balance would be unknown (from what I understand)
