GM Nostr friends.

Another blustery cold day here, but I saw green tips poking out of the ground on my morning walk. The sun felt so good on my face.

Starting my Zepbound journey. I had my first shot on Saturday, and last night (Monday) was the first time I felt any symptoms - just a little nauseous because I had a pretty protein-heavy dinner.

Trying to remind myself that the diet and exercise changes and possible drug side effects are worth it. I need to get out of the diabetic zone, and then I can cut out my other obesity-related meds and avoid going down my mom's path that led to kidney failure.

Get out there and work it today, people.

How's it going so far?

Getting close to 10lbs down so far! Most of it water weight, I realize, but it's nice to finally see the scale going in the right direction. I keep telling myself it's going to take time and to be patient.

Oh, I mistakenly thought you were using it for diabetes.

I am in range to be diabetic, but my doc wanted me to try the shots first and see what things look like before sticking that diagnosis on my record. Pretty much all of my mom's family was diabetic, so it's definitely not a stretch.

Anyone telling you in range means you're diabetic. There's no such thing as prediabetes. That's like saying a little bit dead or kind of pregnant.

PS I know because I've been battling this disease almost 20 years. It's a struggle.

Oh, I know it! Watched my mom test her blood sugar and give her insulin injections my whole life. She ended up dying from kidney failure as a side effect of badly controlled diabetes.

A couple years ago, my A1C was 5.7 when I was working out regularly. The most recent a few weeks ago was 6.8 and I am completely to blame. Just praying I can make some positive changes for myself.

Diabetes sucks. I hope you're able to live as well as possible with it. Keto diet is supposed to be an enormous help!

Thanks, not sure why I never got a notification for this reply.

Anyway, sorry to hear that...that's sad, it does affect the kidneys, my mom had the same issue and she passed away two years ago :(

I know about keto...I wrote a book about it. lol
