Mine's actually a bit thin on the sides but you can't tell because of the way I trim it.

You brush it all down, put a guard on the clippers, and comb downward with the guard. This way you're only trimming the few stubborn hairs that refuse to be brushed down. After a few weeks of doing this it fills out pretty well. 👍
