100%. I think the narrative was/is a cheap way to try and denigrate Bitcoin so that other bad alt coins could be hyped up.
The whole "It doesn't scale" is a quasi-legit issue but Lightning does meet all of the cryptography tests that Bitcoin does - because under the hood, it IS Bitcoin.
And Bitcoin remains the hardest, most battle tested, decentralized, secure public blockchain.
But Lightning is complicated for the average person. Like, really complicated. So it's not yet a great solution for scaling. But it's being developed.
