Question! (and tldr): Can you actually train yourself to be tolerant to a food you're allergic to?

Because I just decided on my own that I could! I have been allergic to shrimp/prawn and crab (and probably any other shellfish) for 8+ years now. Although I literally grew up eating these two and was very fond of them both. Then my body decided to stop me. It makes me crippled with stomach pain and doesn’t leave me alone until I force myself to throw up every bit of it! So after several of these events I stopped as suggested by the doctor.

After all these years I recently started consuming veryyy little amounts of shrimp again. Like one or two little ones occasionally in the hope of getting my body to tolerate it one small dose at a time. I didn’t really feel *much* reaction except slight uncomfyness in the stomach.

Today I went a little too far and consumed a little more than I usually do. Like four shrimps. And would you believe that the stomach pain came back. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Not in full-swing though. Like 5/10, tolerable with itchy throat and all. I wont have to throw up but if I had to move or go anywhere or do any heavy work, I know that wouldn’t be possible in this condition.

Are ya'll still reading? 😅 I'm so bummed! Is it actually possible to train ourselves to reverse the allergy? #asknostr #foodstr

Yes, still reading. 😄

Sorry to hear that. Glad you're fine.

I never read anything on reversing allergies since I don't have any, technically. 🤔 If I come across anything, I'll let you know. But I would assume if that can be done, it's to address the underlying issue. Just start feeding himself small amounts of it and going up in doses probably is not the way to go.

I guess you're right goddammit! 😅 If I'm not allergic someday, I'll probably be able to eat it all I want. But if I am, I am. I can't train myself to not react. ☹️

Thank you so much for reading, JoySun. And thanks for the feedback. 💜💜
