This + existing hard disks + 500gb ssd + 2 sata cables. $80. They were throwing this out.

I tried pilfering a server for my old day job but they were not having it. 😅 I offered to pay for it to. it was just collecting dust

Can get these for cheap on eBay though off lease. Cost a bit more but you’ll still get a damn near commercial NAS for Best Buy prices when you’re done.

Depending on what you wanna host. PCIe lanes, memory, or cores will prolly be your deciding factor. For a NAS PCIe for a sata controller would be nice. And a case to hold it, or a JBod.
