I still think there is space for an amazing onboarding-only client. All it does is to help new users create and backup a new key, find your friends and set your profile up before helping them choose other clients to see/write content.

Yep, but take it to the extreme. Nosta's user creation is just a big wizard with 1-2 sentences each. They just do "Insert your LN Address here" instead of explaing what that is and how it will be used.
The zap onboarding is a hard one. You always have to send them to another app/service or go the Primal route. eCash can really be a game changer here, since an npub is enough to start receiving funds.
As much as I love zapping, I feel like itās not a hard requirement for any kind of board on-boarding. Itās almost like a side quest that can be dealt with later
Maybe quests is the way to onboard people. One quest at a time.
Gamification would be fun, throw in some badges along the way too. thndr games is already automating badges in this way

Proof of work? Like my day jobs or the random hacking Iāve done on coracle, snort, relay-tools, and other bits Iāve hacked on to get oriented to nostr and try to get mvp for vote.gold. The former is not related, while the latter is not impressive, yet. (Really could use a funded side project though)
I just mean that your project should exist before you ask for funding for it
If I wireframed a novel user experience and a few user flows, and packaged this together documenting my years of experience as in the field and my demonstrated dedication to developing nostrā¦ would that be enough to get funding (assuming they project is desired)?
I would break ground first and get an MVP together
