Unconventional take: viruses are nature’s misunderstood allies.

We’re taught to fear viruses but if you dig deeper, you’ll discover their hidden and beneficial purpose.

Many viruses act as the TCP/IP network for the internet of biological organizations. Using reverse transcription and horizontal gene transfer, they shuttle genetic information between organisms. This gives organisms the new “software” they need to evolve.

Viruses do trigger disease in some organisms but, in many cases, this is an indirect result of the organism’s immune response overreaction caused by existing poor health.

So, the next time you ponder viruses, think beyond the fear. Celebrate those as little workers, doing their part to help life thrive here on earth.
