Two brief moments of connection recently have been grounding and refocused my attention on what is important.

Cutting my daughters toe nails was the first. She seems so grown up, but her tiny little toes, those of a child, were evidence of how young she still is.

The second was cutting my dads hair, I'm his barber now apparently. He's been turning up asking for hair cuts for a few years. But this time I realised that, rather than being an imposition as I felt other times, I was enjoying the time with him, it was calming and something we did together. He's in his 80's, still mobile, he drives, but, who knows how many more haircuts I can share with him.

Strange how two small moments can really put things into focus. Find those moments with those around you, because they all count.

Yeah, I did too while writing it, more than I expected.
