People will find Nostr even if it isn’t the same demographic as Fedi. When I joined I had no expectation that others would make the move, I joined because I think the technology is better. I’m surprised so many have tried it out.

If Alex actually makes a bridge that works then it’ll be moot. A large chunk of people will be able to interact. But whether or not that happens I’m still going to post here.

True. Without good people here, the tech do t really matter . We basically have a cool way to go fuck ourselves

I am absolutely positive that Nostr is going to grow and people outside the Bitcoin community are going to find it. I don’t know how long that will take, but it’s really too good to fail, especially for how young it is.

When I first joined the Fediverse in 2019 it sucked ass too, but tolerable people found it organically. All Nostr really needs imo is someone like Alex Gleason who gets what normalfags want and is willing to put in the time and work to make it happen.

If not Nostr, then Blue Sky. Both of them have actual independent wealth behind them so they de facto have an advantage over Fedi. If Fedi came as far as it did on a shoestring budget, Nostr or Blue Sky doing essentially the same thing can go even farther.

Oh please no more shit. Fragmentation sucks

I’m fine with multiple networks, people might want different things and it’s good that other projects can explore a variety of directions.

The only fragmentation that bothers me is intra-network like Fedi has, where servers block users and websites over the egos of fragile jannies. You’ll never have that fragmentation here, and hopefully Blue Sky finds a way around it too, even though it’s more similar to Fedi than it is Nostr.

With fragmentation though, it will be hard for any system to really thrive and grow.

Think of it as analagous to Web 2.0. Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit all became universal platforms without necessarily taking chunks out of one another. Web 3.0 can be the same. Some people will use one, some will use a few or all of them. As long as a reasonably solid iteration of decentralization can thrive, I’ll be happy. I think Nostr is the best candidate rn.
