Replying to Avatar Currency of Distrust

I think people who want to use AI or robots to automate away every “undesirable” task to focus on “what truly matters” are a bit delusional. Work and responsibility are fundamental parts of life and existence. We can be upset about that, resent it, push back against it, but reality doesn’t care. If you automate away everything, you might suddenly find your life means nothing.

Of course, this doesn’t mean a robot that can do laundry or dishes would be bad, but where is the final line? When do we hit the threshold of the machines are doing too much?

I’d argue that part of why modern life is so lacking purpose is because of how much we’ve used tech to replace “undesirable” things. Sometimes, the most mundane things provide the most benefit.

Agreed. Doing the work, whatever it may be, is foundational to fulfillment imo. There is no contentment like going to bed tired, after working, being constructive, eating right and taking care of everything that needs doing in one’s life.
