What do you mean by network? As in irl? Can’t networking be done with nyms?
i'd recommend you to go through other people's following lists that you already follow
i edit my following list every month, and trim it down ever so often
some clients also offer "follow all" when it comes to other people's following lists
that way you have a starting point, which you can start trimming down yourself
To me personally, when it comes to social media, ideas are more important than people.
