those rings are only for bulls, also, because it's one of the few ways you can get a lever on a fully mature adult male

so, it may look like a symbol of domestication, in fact it's an individual who is segregated for high class level domestication, ie, they are chosen to reign over the rest of the flock

so there may be some aspect of that in it, i never really thought much about it

the piercing is a very easy one to get wrong but for me i didn't even feel it, turns out i have a very thin skin part in the right spot and it was less painful than an ear piercing, i was stoked because several people i'd talked to about it who got it done said it was like being punched in the nose

i'm not gonna read into it any further than that tho, there's a real practical reason why they do it co bulls, and they do it because they are powerful

also, ear tags are the livestock thing, these tags are also given to some stray animals in some countries to indicate they have been neutered... those usually are in the right ear also

i remember there was all kinds of superstitions about piercings when i was young, "right ear means gay, left ear straight" and shit like this, and then by my mid teens there was all these rockstars getting septum and eyebrow and industrials and nipple piercings and shit

i'm kinda glad the fad has died down a bit, but there's a culture that loves this stuff, hipster, hippy, woke, when i got my stuff done it was much more grass roots underground than now... i even died my hair with a bright red spiral when i was 18 living in a share house behind an anarchist bookshop... haxing the internet in the early days with an old macintosh with terminal emulator... ah the stories
