The fox climbed up to the smallest ostrich chicks, they were just the size of an adult turkey, there would be enough food for a week. The fox grabbed the fattest baby ostrich and dragged him into the forest.
The happy fox ran to its hole with its prey in its teeth. When the little ostrich woke up from fear, he realized that he had to somehow get out of the mess, he pecked the fox right in the eye with all his might, the fox's mouth opened in surprise, the little ostrich took advantage of this and rushed to run away, ostriches run very fast. He ran through the forest, jumped over snags, fallen trees and small ravines, fleeing from the chase, and the fox ran after the chick until he was exhausted and lost track of the baby ostrich. And the baby continued to run, afraid of being chased, until he fell into a raspberry thicket and became entangled in its tenacious thorny branches. He was so scared that he was afraid to even cry, lest he incur another predator. Then a sparrow flew to the raspberry tree to treat itself to delicious ripe berries and saw a baby ostrich and said:
- Yes, I have never seen such a monster of a monster, who are you?
- I am Nostr, my ancestors were brought to your region from Africa, we live on a farm not far from your forest. A fox kidnapped me and dragged me into the forest. I ran away from it, but got lost and got tangled in these bushes. I’m still small, I’m only a month old, and I really want to go back to the farm, please help me.
The sparrow felt sorry for this big baby and he called the woodpecker, who in no time pecked at the raspberry branches and freed the baby ostrich. But neither the sparrow nor the woodpecker knew where the farm was, then they went to the crow, she is a curious bird, often visits human settlements and should know more about them than anyone else. Seeing the unusual company, the crow was surprised, and then, after listening to the story, he said that he knew where the farm was and would show the way. Nostr thanked the sparrow and woodpecker for their help and went on with the crow to look for their home.
The crow led the baby ostrich out of the forest straight to the farm, wished him luck and flew back into the forest.
