Most of ‘web3’ was really just web 2.1. Things that appear to be doing so much more, but are mostly reliant on browser extensions and plugins.

Yea, it looked like Ethereum pretending to be the internet. I just thought a lot of people were still pursuing it.
I've not even heard of Web4 so Web5 was a surprise.
