Do you have to use a VPN when you spend fiat currency? If the answer is no, then you don't need a VPN to spend Monero either.

Ya but if you don't use a VPN then you could be exposing everyone involved with your transaction on xmr a lil tiny bit right ?

No, Monero hides the sender of money, the receiver of money, and how much money was sent and received. It also hides the IP address of the device that sent the transaction. This all occurs by default.
