He filed papers to officially challenge Putin in the election after collecting at least 100,000 voter signatures. The CEC is expected to make a final decision on Nadezhdin's application on Wednesday. Putin is anticipated to win reelection in March, with 51.1 percent of Russian voters saying he best represents their interests.
