This year 125,000 incarcerated moms are being kept from their children. 60% of them are in jail due to the inability to afford bail- not even convicted of any crime!
At the same time countless immigrant mothers from targeted black + brown communities are being ripped away from their children and disappeared to foreign prisons.
Although Trump is supercharging this, Obama + Biden administrations laid the groundwork with Biden surpassing Trumps first term record of deportations.

This is the work of a toxic police state.
Thankfully abolitionist organizers, lawyers + activists are building movements to support mothers + families being torn apart by the prison industrial complex.
Whenever this subject comes up I would like to remind people that in other places assassination, murder, executions and disappearances; all without trial, are more common. So at least when you are incarcerated you have a life to advance verses an abrupt sentence.
