I run a node. I hold my keys. And yet, I had a decent chunk of #Bitcoin I’d failed to withdraw from Swan a full 6 months after I switched to River. Thought I might have lost it during the Prime Trust switch. Fortunately, I didn’t.

I know GBTC is paper Bitcoin, but I flipped an IRA 100% into it during a dip, but with still strong fundamentals. Who knows how long I’ll need to hold that bag to get back to where I bought in; maybe I won’t. I could have chosen a self-directed IRA from Unchained. I didn’t.

Lessons learned.

Why River over Swan? Asking because I’ve been considering exactly this for the recurring plan. On one hand, no fees with River. On the other Swan doesn’t charge network fees, which seem to be increasing these days.

I chose River because they built and own their entire stack. I got nervous about Prime Trust at the beginning of the year, and that was what precipitated me moving over for DCA buys.
