Originally, intellectual property rights were designed to allow the inventor a few years to market and sell their idea. Which, IMHO is not a poor concept.

However, as the copyright began to run out on Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney lobbied Congress in order to extend the time period for IP rights. IP rights have been extended several times over the last 95 years through lobbying and bribery. Mostly due to the efforts of the Disney corporation.

Currently the Disney corporation is lobbying Congress to extend IP rights to 125 years because the rights on Mickey Mouse end next year.

I’m sorry, IMHO, lots of people have lots of good ideas all the time. However, if you can’t bring that idea to fruition, then you don’t deserve the profit from marketing and selling that idea.

This is just another example of big government and big business robbing the individual of the right to earn.
