I set my node up on a 10 year old desktop with 4gb RAM. I installed Umbrel on debian. Working great so far with Bitcoin core + electrum, Nostr relay, and Syncthing.
You don't need a full blown dedicated raspberry Pi node to "run a node".
Just install Bitcoin core in your desktop computer.
Then in your hardware wallet software, go to the settings and select your local PC as the node.
