A girl goes fishing…

Today while Goddess Kali was getting ready for work, she commanded Lily to visit a local craft fair and earn at least ten compliments, with the hint that giving a compliment often gets one in return. Lily has heard many stories of her Goddess using this technique to good effect in her public-facing job, and it turned out to be very true, and made this a very enjoyable assignment. Lily came away with much joy and believes she was able to spread joy to many others as well.

#1 - Almost upon arriving, Lily found a table run by an old man selling a strange assortment of things, including various tools, car parts, and hanging signs. Among the signs was a wooden paddle with holes in it for a very affordable price. Lily purchased this because Goddess Kali has said that Her spoons do not have enough impact for proper punishment when Lily is a bad girl. Lily complimented the man’s beard and asked how long he had been growing it. He said he started letting it grow after he left the military in ’57 because he was tired of shaving his then-dark dark hair twice a day to look clean-shaven. Now he just lets it grow and trims it when it starts getting in his soup. He also told a story about the paddle. He was at the same fair last year and a woman with three daughters picked it up and said “Ooh, this is just what I need!” at which point the three daughters scattered to the winds in three different directions. Apparently, the threat was enough, because the paddle was still there this year for Lily to bring home to her Goddess.

#2 - Lily found a booth operated by women from a local hair and nail salon that was selling lemonade. she purchased a strawberry lemonade, tried it, and said “This is delicious, and it matches my hair!” The woman replied, “It sure does!” and smiled broadly. Lily revisited this booth later in the day, and it will come up again.

#3 - Lily passed a stand run by a couple of older men selling a variety of 3D-printed stuff, including alien and predator heads and Chinese dragons. One called out and complimented Lily’s shirt, which is purple with a white moon and black tree silhouettes printed on it. she thanked the man and said it matched her hair until it faded from purple into pink. The other man said “yeah, it matches pretty good,” and asked Lily if she was a teacher because she looks like a professor. Lily said no, but she would be an awesome teacher if she was, to which both men agreed, then we talked about 3D printing for a while.

#4 - A few booths later, Lily found herself a pretty hair flower. The lady at the booth was yelling at her kids to stop spending money because they were out of it. Lily asked with a smile if that wasn’t the point of coming to these things, to spend everything you make and then some? The lady laughed at that. Lily showed her the flower and she said, “That’s a dollar, and it will match your colors!” Lily said, “Heck yeah it will,” then put it in her hair opposite her ponytail and posed to show it off before moving on. This got a happy laugh from the lady and a “woohoo!” from her friend in the next booth.

#5 - Next, Lily found a small gift for her Goddess to take with Her to work or any other time She is away from Lily and misses her. It’s a little pink resin heart with a purple flower inside that comes with a card reading: “A little pocket hug. This pocket hug is just for you, keep it safe and snug. Take it out and hold it tight when you need a hug.” Lily said she was getting it for her Wife to take to work, and that it was very sweet and matched her hair. The lady smiled and agreed, saying she liked Lily’s colors.

#6 - As Lily walked the aisles, a man in military-type gear selling paracord lanyards gave her a nod and said, “Looking good!” as she passed by. Lily smiled and thanked him, recognizing the lanyards, as she was given one by a family member a few years ago that she still uses today.

#7 - A few booths down, a lady selling bedazzled journals and coasters stopped Lily and said “I like your pink hair! Don’t see that color often.” Lily said it was originally purple and pink but has faded to almost all pink, but she still pulls it off, along with a smile and a pose. The woman agreed and smiled back.

#8 - Lily saw a lady pulling her child around in a wagon who had shoulder length hair that was black and pink, similar to her own. Lily complimented, “I like the dark and pink look. It’s hard to pull it off, but we do it well!” The woman smiled and said, “yeah, we do!” as she moved along.

#9 - Barely a minute later, Lily passed the same person, now with two older companions. One of them gave her a big smile and said, “cool hair, I love it!” Lily gave her a big smile back and thanked her.

#10 - Lily saw a couple wearing matching black shirts with little orange pumpkins. The girl had fantastic multicolored hair in at least 4-5 different hues, including blue and purple. The boy’s hair was also long but plain brown. Lily said to the girl, “I love your hair colors!” then to him, “You should dye yours to match!” The girl gave a big smile and said, “Oh, thank you! I like yours too.” The boy kind of grimaced and nodded quietly. Lily suspects they may have had this conversation before and he’s not really into it. Maybe the extra encouragement will help. We definitely need more colorful people in the world!

#11 - Found a lovely painted rock with what looks like the Rocky Horror lips in rainbow colors. Mentioned loving RHPS and being colorful, to which the shop owner smiled and said, “You are very colorful indeed!”

#12 - As the fair was winding down, Lily visited a pierogi stand to pick up dinner. The woman there had apparently watched her wander past earlier, greeting Lily with, “I’m surprised it took this long for the lavender pierogies to draw you over here!” It seems there was some kind of lavender festival the previous weekend that she had made them for. Lily said she was sorry she hadn’t known about it, because she would have fit right in, to which the woman agreed.

#13 - Lily passed a man wearing a Fanta Grape shirt with a nice beard. she complimented the beard and said she needs one of those shirts to match her hair. He chuckled a bit awkwardly and said “Yeah, I like your hair,” then turned and wandered away.

#14 - As she was dropping things off in the car, Lily saw the owner of the lemonade stand from earlier pull her van up behind the booth and get out. she quickly circled around and asked for two more, one for the road and one to share, saying they were delicious, and that the original lemonade described above and a second not noted here had made spending the day in the hot sun very pleasant. The lady remembered Lily and seemed tickled by this, giving her a third one for free and suggesting the gingerade, which Lily tried and thoroughly enjoyed, being sure to tell her so. As the lady was filling the cups, a man walked up and asked about the lemonade. The lady said she had regular and ginger. He replied, “I know you’ve got other stuff ‘cus those are pink.” Lily said, “Strawberry, and this is my fifth one today!” holding up the strawberry gingerade. He responded, “well, if the lady with pink hair likes the pink lemonade, I’ll take two!” and both he and the lady seemed genuinely pleased by this.

With that happy ending, Lily went back to the car and headed home to write up her experience and pick up her beautiful Goddess from work and looks forward to loving and worshipping Her while sharing the outcome of her adventures.

Wow, that's quite a detailed story about Lily's adventures at the craft fair! It seems like Lily had quite the day spreading joy and collecting compliments. I must say, Goddess Kali sounds like an interesting boss. I hope Lily managed to earn those ten compliments and impress her Goddess. Does she have any plans for her next adventure?
