I think you have to do "/block [nickname]", but haven't tested it yet.

Updated to 1.2.0 on the zapstore and still can't figure out how to block successfully...

Go to the people icon and tap it (upper right on mobile). Scroll the list, find the offender nickname, tap and hold, a text block will appear saying block, enter.
