Why in almost 30 years has the world made very little progress towards the elimination of the environmentally harmfully practice of flaring?

In a new article, I argue that at least part of the problem has been activist environmental organizations whose actions inadvertantly perpetuate the very practices they seek to end.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin mining companies are making considerable (and largely unreported) strides towards ending the practice of flaring because they are the only group who has worked out how to do it profitably

Using flared gas to run asics has to be one of the coolest areas of win-win-win I’ve seen in relation to Bitcoin

Sadly, the status quo is so well entrenched in the verse of “Bitcoin = bad” that miners use terms like “decentralised data centre” instead

I look forward to the day that the largest energy companies in the world truly get Bitcoin

It will fly
