I have to rent a vehicle next year for a trip to the keys.
A truck might be more practical (luggage), but we've also never sprung for a convertible.
The cost difference is only about $25 for the entire trip.

The sun can be brutal down there but in the mornings and evenings the convertible will be magical
Biased as I’ve only owned trucks and a Tahoe, I’d go truck.
I’m 6’1 and really appreciate the leg room on those long rides.
If I got to pick my vehicle to go across the country I’d go Chevy Tahoe/ Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator
