you cannot be successful in mma today without jiujitsu. the gracies developed a cornerstone of fighting itself.
what’s amazing is it’s still changing. every decades long black belt I know is still learning and inventing.
ever had a chance to try it?
nostr:npub16vrkgd28wq6n0h77lqgu8h4fdu0eapxgyj0zqq6ngfvjf2vs3nuq5mp2va - I don’t follow Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but back when the UFC started my favourite part was discovering the Gracie family.
It was amazing to watch a relatively small man grapple a muscle-bound giant into submission.
Today there is no place for this type of specialization in UFC.
Is the Gracie family still legendary in competition? Is there a next generation who is top of the sport?

I need to get more dangerous. Prolly should try.
Cool that they were so influential in the evolution of fighting.
No, never tried it. I have always been very focussed on destination A to B activities - long canoe trips and kayaking. I did judo as a kid and liked it.
I live on a farm so I generally have a physical day. And I also wear a belt :-)
