I sometimes reluctantly login for a work account. I think they took twitter and only kept the primal scream Shoutbox aspect of it's culture, but turned it up to 11. They also figured they'd leverage Activitypub's dynamic where value is decentralized while everything else is a single point of failure, but I'm not sure you actually get to see anyone from mastodon and company as most instances blocked the meta servers at inception.
