“We haven’t murdered enough people or conquered enough of our neighboring country yet, but if you all would just stop supporting the humans we’re trying to obliterate, we might consider killing fewer of them, and we may even stop torturing your person if we can get a few of our own guys back”

FUCK THIS WARLORD AND HIS BULLSHIT PROPAGANDA.

FUCK HIM FOR GOING ON NATIONAL TELEVISION AND SAYING THIS SHIT WITH A STRAIGHT FACE LIKE WE SHOULD ACCEPT HIS TERMS.

FUCK CARLSON FOR GIVING HIM AIRTIME.

You know, I’m typically a big believer in nuance.

There isn’t nuance here.

He’s feeding evil. It’s that simple. nostr:note1mrfgvak9slf92jxe92mjjm4hljkc3maaeetj7430pe2v82plt0nse3c2ve

I support you a lot Boston, but I disagree here. I'm not going to go into the motives of Putin, I don't really know. But I believe that Carlson is a great man who is doing his best to give the world more perspectives. Just my 2 sats 🫂 ⚡

And it’s totally cool to disagree! (isn’t nostr weird?)

I have close family friends, whom I love and respect, who would agree with your opinion here. And it’s true that he’s willing to broach subjects that many others won’t touch.

My issue is the incentives. I can’t shake the feeling that his motivation is “off”. And he frequently promotes a point of view where the powerful, rich, and deeply-entrenched incumbent is the first entity to profit from people buying Carlson’s arguments. As a bitcoiner, my first instinct is to be skeptical of this.

There’s a school of psychotherapy called NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) where you re-train your psyche and form new internal narratives.

The scary thing is that many politicians and pundits (left and right) employ these techniques in order to promote their party’s view. But the most adept/skillful of anyone is Tucker Carlson. He uses textbook “modern hypnotism” methods and makes it appear like he’s just a curious skeptic.

That shit can’t be good…

Yeah, this is true. And your right, we don't need to all agree nor should we

Yes we can agree to disagree without anyone feeling uncomfortable.

I like to keep an open mind as I was under the impression that he is very much a supporter of bitcoin.

Disagreement is healthy and it brings us closer to truth!

I get, for lack of a better word, a deeply “icky” feeling whenever I hear him talk, regardless of subject matter. I’ve felt that way since I was young, and I trust my instincts.

And the fact that he’s going out of his way to give a platform to the first mass murderer of the 2020s doesn’t do him any favors.

Love you homie - keep seeking 🤙

I agree it’s healthy and I love you too homie 🫂

💜🫂💜💜🫂

There is no enlightenment to be had here. Just a fired propagandist giving air to a mass murderer to be broadcasted on a failing platform.

🎯🎯🎯🎯

fuck your american propaganda tv too and all your fucking military bases all over the place you fucking propaganda head

Appreciate you sir, first of all.

American “empire” propaganda is dangerous, damaging, manipulative, scary, and at times, murderous.

I’m not excusing it for a minute.

If US tax dollars had been required to fund the war in Iraq (instead of GWB2’s money printer), there would have been a civilian revolution instead of an endless war overseas.

But I believe American leadership has become entirely detached from American ideals.

For what it’s worth, I don’t believe that most Russian citizens want a conqueror’s war in Ukraine. Most of them probably oppose it. But they live in a country where, if they speak up too loudly, they will “disappear” along with their families.

It’s the leader of THAT country who is being given a platform today. Who is being celebrated by people with the word “freedom” in their bio. Who is publicly and shamelessly proclaiming that he hasn’t murdered enough civilians to be satisfied.

When any other nation’s leader does this, trust that I will condemn it with similar emphasis.

But today, it’s Putin and Carlson who asked for the spotlight, so it’s time they damn well get it.

I don’t think it’s right to be mad at Tucker for doing the interview. Only listening to one side of a story is far worse than listening to both, even if you assume everything the other side says is all lies. If you only listen to one side, you are granting *that side* permission to lie to you at will. I watched the interview under the assumption everything Putin was going to say was manipulative, and I came away believing the same but with a better understanding of how he thinks.

In many instances I would agree on principle, and I respect wanting to understand what makes the guy tick.

If I believed Carlson was doing this interview for some humanitarian motive, to “shed light” on why a nuclear power has attempted to obliterate its neighbor, I might go in with a different mindset.

But Putin doesn’t need this platform to promote his angle. He’s not saying anything new. And Carlson’s general viewer/listener-base is prone to side with the contrarian viewpoint as a general rule.

In my (skeptically interrogated, bitcoiner-philosophy) opinion, Carlson isn’t acting on deep principles of journalistic integrity.

It seems to me that, as usual, he’s taking advantage of a situation rife with conflict, fear, and uncertainty, to expand his reach and shill his brand

Yay!!! Nostr has finally achieved the levels of division and anger we feared we'd left behind with Twitter. All is well.

Yeah I was mad. Still am. Also still love the nostriches here and the fact that we can disagree and still 🫂🤙 after

Lol, yeah, but I think we all thrive on friction to some degree, and the whole "GM, GN, Zap me for nothing" thing was getting pretty damn soft!

I’m a softy and I love the good vibes, but it’s also a setting where people can respectfully disagree because there’s no engagement incentive to behave badly
