I've found #Alpine as the best lightweight distro. #Gnome on it takes just 1GB almost same as #KDE, a little more than #XFCE.

That's a new one to me! I'll poke around. I am not a power user however and it looks... Out of my league 😅
I found some good material on YouTube about Alpine. Any suggestions you've found helpfu to get basic desktop functionality?
Yes, their Wiki has everything. After the initial configuration is complete, just type setup-desktop and it will let you select and install a DE: Gnome, KDE, XFCE, etc.
This has been great. A few hiccups but it's running like a dream on an old laptop. Now to try to get the printer working... 😅
