I had the exact same sentiment yesterday. "Ignore the news, it is a distraction from how I can make my own life better." I believe it is a natural, creative reaction to feeling powerless over forces in the world that always work against us. The hope that the new administration would drive change to magically make our lives better is fully extinguished.
