All of the data on Nostr is public data anyways. Everyone in the world can see it and store it. The only difference is a relay operator has your encrypted DMs. Relay operators also have your IP address. It's entirely possible now that any of the free or paid relays are ran by bad people reporting your IP address to any government agency. If you care about privacy, then use TOR or a VPN to access Nostr.

I know that there is no privacy in Nostr. I'm talking about economies of scale. Nostr relays are under the same consolidation pressure as Bitcoin miners.

users will gravitate towards relays where their friends are at. it will always be a constant struggle to move around to keep the network decentralized. just like Bitcoin mining, it's something we'll have to actively watch and work on together.

None of my friends are on Nostr. I just want to follow the most interesting people.

Maybe some of your friends are on Nostr but you haven't found each other.

No, I'm 100% certain they are not. I'm 45, my friends (I have 2) aren't into Bitcoin, they don't know what it is and wouldn't know how to use it. Orange pilling them is impossible, they just don't care.

You'll find your tribe of Nostriches here 🐤

Super cereal!
