True, but that would have trapped us into nuclear for a long time and I have a suspicion that our investments into alternative energy research and development will pay off with a better long term outcome even though it has cost our generations more in the meantime.

Cheap energy enables more people to have a higher standard of living which helps all of us. The drag we've created on society is immeasurable

And more importantly, you can't be trapped on nuclear... It doesn't have limits as a base load carrier

You can be economically trapped. If nuclear is 1/100th the cost of renewables, then few investors will fund development of renewables to the point that their prices become competitive with nuclear.
