Well, because Mary does not save us through judgment (as Christ did and does); we do not hide ourselves within her (as we do Christ, Col 3); she is not the fulfillment of the propitiation-making mercy-seat (as Christ is); she is not the firstborn over a new creation (as Christ is); she is not without sin (as Christ is); nowhere are we told that we are "in Mary" (as we are "in Christ"); nowhere is the redemptive work of Mary contrasted to the failure of Adam (unlike Christ, Rom. 5); nowhere are we promised that Mary will be "with us, even until the end of the age" (as we are promised Christ will be); etc. Christ Jesus--not Mary--is the true, and better, "[Mercy Seat](https://learn.ligonier.org/articles/jesus-christ-our-true-mercy-seat)."

Indeed: she is worthy of honor, "most blessed of all woman," yet not because of who she was in herself, but because of who she birthed...

...neither are we baptized into Mary as we are baptized into Christ ([1 Peter 3](https://www.esv.org/1+Peter+3/); [Col. 2](https://www.esv.org/Col+2/))...which is to say, we do not surive the "flood waters of judgment" because we're "in Mary," but because we're "in Christ." Nor do we trust that we, too, will be resurrected on day by looking at Mary's resurrection, but at Christ's.
