StartUp while Digital Nomad'ing?
If you are looking to get into the Digital Nomad life style and are working for yourself or starting your own business consider the economics of living in Thailand and especially Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand.
While starting a new business you will not necessarily have clients banging down your door - if you do then all the more power to you - but if not why not give yourself the extra run way by cutting the costs of your business in the first year(s) and live in Chiang Mai.
Here is a basic cost breakdown for one person p/month.
Accommodation: 180 USD studio, new apt in Southern part of the Old City walking distance to cafe's to work and amenities (supermarket, small vege stands etc).
Power and water on top of this would be approximately $70 USD on top of this for AC whenever you are in the room. Less if you don't use AC. You most likely will want to in my experience however. Its hot here a lot of the time.

Food I would say add another $20 USD if you are eating all your meals out. Per day totaling $600 USD. If not then probably halve it at $300 USD p/month as you will still want to go work in a cafe or have a meal or two out. The above accommodation have a small kitchen so you could cook if you wanted to.
Visas per 6 months: Approx $120 p/month for first 6 months. See below.
There you go your expenses for just the very basics can be in the range of $770 - $970 p/month.
