I'm more than a little skeptical about the quality of software that uses the lightning network.

- I've already hit a bug in LND and added into to the existing ticket about it

- Offered suggestion on lnbits for a confusing error message

- Tried sending using Bluewallet -> LNDHub, failed

- Tied adding a specific amount in the invoice, failed with a different error message "API error: undefined (undefined code)"

- Tried doing the same with Zeus, claimed it was successful despite no money being transferred

- Found LND mysteriously shut down again (no reason cited in the logs)

- Tried sending money from LNBits, no error, no money transferred

- Seeing messages in the lnbits logs that "This backend does nothing" but doesn't say which backend it thinks it's using. The web UI shows it's using LndRestWallet, not VoidWallet

- Eventually I was able to get LNBits to give me an error saying I have insufficient funds to pay (I have 30K and was trying to pay 1K)

And on top of all this NWC with Amethyst/CoinOS has been broken for weeks (yes, I reconnected and it's still broken).

This is why people use custodial wallets instead of running their own node!

It's almost as bad as having Zeus fail and force close Olympus channels that I paid for because they're "too old". It's not quite that bad, but close.

Follow me for more random ranta about technology not working the way I want it to, or at all.

You can try bitvora.com with nwc/amethyst 🙏

And these types of abundant software failuresnare exactly why I both produce and consume open source projects that value reliability and stability over jamming on new features.

I'd rather have the basic features be reliable instead of everything being a crap shoot each time I go to use the system. It's a choice. I don't expect everyone to want the same thing as me. I juat want to be able to have nice things.

Now my channel has gone inactive and lnd is failing to connect to random nodes I have not added nor do I have a channel with...

...including but not limited to .onion URLs despite this node not having Tor support. Like... seriously? The software couldn't look at the config and see tor.active=False? Or it couldn't figure out that the peer's hostname ended in .onion?

I give up. I'm taking a break.

I wish I had time to become a developer for every project that I use and want to to improve. 🫤 But to do that, I'd have to give up gardening, and that's not really viable. I gotta eat and food is expensive!

I thought that it was only me having those problems.

I had AlbyGo working, but not any more.

I tried Bluewallet and Zeus, but had to give up.

Feeling helpless and stupid, and have returned to Strike ...
