They really seem real
Either that, or some people are actually using AI to reply

Some people are using AI to reply to throw off three letter agencies who might be trying to fingerprint them based on their style of writing
One of the things that nostr will have to deal with sooner or later will be a proof of human signature. Only if people want the protocol to survive as a place for authentic human to human connection.
A little bit of both I suspect.
Nostr is the prefect playground for ai powered bots. Very low cost.
