Today’s chickens have been bred to grow incredibly large and at breakneck speeds, reaching market weight in just six to seven weeks and weighing in at four times the size of 1950s breeds.

There are some people who believe that they are fed hormones to get to this point.

I was once talking to an acquaintance who worked with chickens, and he assured me that this is the result of genetic selection and feeding alone.

I am also working for the Poultry Industry and I can confirm this. The feed quality is infinitely better than what it was 50 years ago. Approach of breeders are much more analytical. And also the breed is so important obese race basically. So this is the result.
