A breakthrough has been made in a 20-year-old cold case in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. In October 2003, the body of an unidentified man was found on the banks of the Delaware River in Bensalem Township. The cause of death was determined to be drowning. Partial fingerprints were collected at the scene, but no matches were found in the national database. In December 2022, hair samples taken during the initial autopsy were sent to a private laboratory, where a DNA profile was created. The Cold Case Initiative funded an investigative genetic genealogy search of public DNA databases, which led investigators to Edward Nece from Riverside, New Jersey.
