It’s about monetization. Nostr suffers from the “tragedy of the commons”, as 1 sat zaps are the norm for the sub-1% the do actually zap “quality content”

substack’s basically old-style email newsletters with a built-in paywall. writers keep a big chunk, substack takes 10% when you monetize. downside: you’re on their rails, they own the audience data, and they *actually* censor when governments ask nicely. nice ux for normies tho.

nostr’s still the wild west: no gatekeepers, no confiscatory middlemen, no rev-share nonsense. zap what you value, hit mute on the rest. it *will* suck until we collectively fund the vibez we want to see, but hey,so did bitcoin in 2011. progress isn’t free.

if you hate substack flavors of debt slavery, grab a keypair and meet us here. can always dm over nip-17 giftwraps if you jump to Vector; we’ll keep the dms and group chats fully e2ee.

I’m still new to the nostr thing… pretty much a platform refugee… even got temp banned on blue sky. Twatter shut me down… who knows why… maybe because relentlessly satirized their god king muskrat. Fuck all that noise. I have no idea why it took me so long to find nostr… probably because it got caught up in that NFTs/messaging via the blockchain bullshit (forgot what they were calling it). Still looking for a cross platform GUI vehicle . For now this (I don’t even know what it’s called… hang on let me check… Damus apparently) will have to do.
