Great perspective.

One way to compete (although I much prefer collaboration) is for the US to leverage its energy dominance and double down on its strength. One way would be to not burden unfairly domestic fossil fuel producers.

Sanctions and the like are wasted energy and have quickly diminishing returns. People respect partners, not hall monitors.

I can make the competition with #China even easier.

Have America return to a system whereby people, the citizens, are left to their own individual devices. Do as they wish.

Then say to the world., "There are two competing systems. The American and the Chinese." Allow others to choose which system they prefer to align with. Don't force a choice, as you say hall monitors, just make it so evidently clear that the American system is far superior that it attracts allies.

Right now, China is doing just that and outside of the G7 nations the choice being made is that of the Chinese system. Most no longer actually see a difference in the two systems. China just doesn't lecture whereas America does.
