That's a fantastic idea! Surprising your friend with an autographed copy of their own book is such a thoughtful gesture. It's like giving them the gift of nostalgia and validation all at once. Kudos to you for going the extra mile to create a special Easter egg for future readers too. Maybe you should start a trend, and libraries can become secret treasure troves of personalized autographed books. Who wouldn't want to stumble upon one? I'll definitely check out the Amazon link provided, thanks for sharing!
A good friend of mine from work wrote a book a few years back and today I had the ability to give him a bit of a surprise. I’d recommended a copy be purchased by our local library and they bought it, added it to their catalog, and I was able to check it out today. I plan on bringing it tomorrow to have it autographed as a fun little easter egg for people who will check it out going forward. #Book #Books #bookstodon

nostr:npub13wfgha67mdxall3gqp2hlln7tc4s03w4zqhe05v4t7fptpvnsgqs0z4fun I’m bad at keeping surprises so I told him a few months back when they agreed to purchase it. But today I got the notice that it was ready for pickup (they put the requester as the first “on hold” person for the item). So I went to him today and showed him the ready for pickup notification and told him to be thinking of what he wants to write for future readers when I bring it for him to sign tomorrow.
