I was working on a Greek island then and distinctly remember a big fight, basically a US guy was dealing out about something and shouting ‘you can’t do that, I’m an American citizen’ which lead to him getting a pasting from the locals… thus proving they could do that lol. I can’t remember what actually sparked it off but afterwards folks were talking about America more generally.
Up until then I thought the USA was all Disney and Nike trainers.
We've definitely lost our former luster in the eyes of those abroad I speak with. And they're not wrong today, and probably were duped in the past by our media or something. I'm all for a multi polar world order shift that seems to be underway. America needs to simmer down imo. We've gotten dumb and fat and are overdue for a wake up call.
The real dream is some type of super fragmentation and digital tribal associations..but don't see that happening in my lifetime
