A clarification note on this.

Until now, only exchanges based in Europe, such as Binance, were required to comply. Bitfinex, for example, did not have offices in Europe, so it was not required to comply and did not do so.

Now, in January 2026, Bitfinex must comply or it will not be able to offer services to Europeans.

Remember that there are P2P exchanges like RetoSwap doing ten times the volume of Bisq or Robosats.
