It’s the pronunciation!

I’ve met quite a few Nguyens over the years so I got the reference and giggled.

From google:

Southern Vietnamese tend to clip some of their sounds, so Nguyen would be pronounced something like “Win” or “Wen.” Northern Vietnamese would keep it, giving a pronunciation more like “N'Win” or “Nuh'Win,” all done as best you can in one syllable

Now you can giggle too 🙂

It made me laugh to think how I must’ve attempted to pronounce Nguyen before. The person that informed me also pointed out I mispronounce “Pho”. 🤦‍♂️ I just can’t hear it.

😂

I don’t even want to think about my mangled effort to pronounce it!

Same here with Pho 😂
