The “disorder” part of the PTSD moniker is when people continue to have pain and fear that is no longer true/helpful. The post traumatic stress itself is always brought on by the combination of fear and pain.

I have my own thoughts about “disorders” in mental health. Pain and fear don’t bring on the stress, they are one of the manifestations. You were talking about #trauma. Fear is a common character but shame and guilt are very popular too. I suppose they are sources of pain but they aren’t the source of the trauma; they’re indicators of it.
