Bitcoin would work if miners had to charge out-of-band for mining transactions. It would just be less eficcient. If we could do like Bitcoin on Nostr we would, but Nostr doesn't have a native currency like Bitcoin has.

Who would the miners be charging in your scenario?

Couldn’t #nostr be built on top of LN with a mandatory 1 sat fee to send a note?

I doubt the network would haven taken off with that economic model, but yes the beneficiary of the service paying for the service is a viable model.

Unless I’m missing something Nostr seems to have that model completely reversed.
